Forged stamps of Transvaal
Z. Afr. Republiek
According to “The Transvaal Study Circle”, reprints outnumber originals many thousands to one. The reprints were made from the original printing plates by Mirza Hadi – a Parisian stamp dealer.
- According to Serrane: “Specializing is indispensable”.
- According to Stanley Gibbons: “Many examples of [the £5] on the market are forgeries and the stamps should only be purchased if accompanied by a recent expert committee certificate”.
Reprints were made on whiter thinner paper than the originals.
